Approximately 1.3 billion Muslims live in every region and most countries of the world. While the Middle East is the birthplace of Islam and an important center of Islamic influence, the largest Muslim populations are found in Central, South and Southeast Asia. There are an estimated 5 million Muslims in the United States. Muslims bear witness that God is one and that Muhammad is His final prophet. They consider Jesus as one of God’s greatest prophets, but they do not accept Him as divine or as man’s Redeemer and Lord. Muslims do not understand or accept God’s ultimate expression of His love shown in Christ’s life, death and resurrection. They focus on God’s holiness, justice and power. They strive to earn His favor and entry into heaven through obedience to Islamic law, good deeds and acts of self-sacrificing devotion. Muslims live within a protective wall of laws, traditions and relationships that separates them from God’s love. Your prayers take His love beyond the wall. | May 15, 2008 | MUSLIMS: PRAYING BEYOND THE WALL. In the last 15 years, the Kazakh homeland--the vast country of Kazakhstan--has found economic prosperity unlike any other former Soviet republic. This is due, in large part, to vast oil resources. This financial blessing has its downside: the 15 million Kazakhs are feeling their spiritual hunger less as their lives are filled with money, work and new opportunities. Ask God to enable the estimated 15,000 Kazakh believers to demonstrate by their lives the true riches found only in Christ and to lead others to faith in God through their Spirit-anointed witness. | | May 14, 2008 | MUSLIMS: PRAYING BEYOND THE WALL. The 3.5 million Acehnese people of Indonesia are very strict Sunni Muslims who take great pride in their faithfulness and their history as the first Indonesians to follow Islam. It requires considerable courage for any Acehnese Muslim to seriously examine the gospel. Pray that God will pour out His mercy and grace on the Acehnese, tearing down strongholds of fear and misconceptions about what it means to follow Christ. Pray for their current beliefs to become confusing and unfulfilling. Ask God to give the Acehnese a deep hunger and thirst for the truth found only in Jesus Christ. Pray for that hunger and thirst to be filled--soon! | | May 13, 2008 | MUSLIMS: PRAYING BEYOND THE WALL. Pray for M. and his wife N., who live in West Africa. Pray for M. to continue to grow in his faith and to be a faithful witness to his wife, who has been resistant. Pray for a softening of this Muslim woman’s heart. Pray for her salvation and for her to recognize the love of God and of His people. Pray also for another believer, A., who continues to mature spiritually. She has a deep desire to learn from God’s Word, even though she does not know how to read. Pray that she will continue to grow in her faith and walk with the Lord. Pray that the missionaries will know how to minister to each of these. | | May 12, 2008 | MUSLIMS: PRAYING BEYOND THE WALL. God’s Word says that He visits the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate him, but shows steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love Him (Exodus 20:5). Pray that God will raise up a new generation of believers among the unreached Muslim people groups of Eastern Africa: the Machinga, Sambaa, Makua and Ngindo. Pray for this generation to be the first of a thousand who will love Jesus and share His love with others. |
